My practice investigates the patterns linking human persistance to the endurance of the natural world. Coastal and forest environments inspire and shape my compositions. By visually dissecting textures in plant and marine life, I construct intricate meditative mazes. Layers of fabric, thread, line, and light transcend into unfurling geometry documenting the passage of time.
My visual vocabulary frequently employs the sphere as a symbol of life’s cyclical nature, while the use of the triad in compositions honors the memory of my mother. This recurring focus on ‘three’ marks the moment my family was reshaped by loss, embedding the experience of grief directly into the anatomy of my work. Through these patterns, I explore the wholeness of the circle and the redirected geometry of life altered by absence.
Currently, I am focusing on 2D mark making as an exploration of the emotional resonance I feel at the waters edge, where the rhythmic energy of the coastal landscape mirrors my own internal landscape. The organic geometry of detached kelp clusters which I encountered on the Santa Monica shoreline are my primary inspiration—a reflection on how time yields a unique and resilient beauty through the act of letting go. My linear expressions in correlation with the arteries of negative space will document the tension between the fragility of life and the enduring power of the tides.
